Grapes and a Suitcase

Here are three traditions I have followed since I was little. Even though New Year’s Eve never quite meets our expectations, it’s comforting to know that no matter where my family members are, they are all doing the exact same thing when the clock strikes twelve.

1.  Wear bright new orange panties.  My mom usually supplies me with these from Target just for the occasion.

2. Eat 12 grapes as the clock chimes at midnight.  One grape for each strike of the clock.  Make a wish with each grape you eat.  This usually results with me having a mouthful of grapes and not remembering any of my wishes, but somehow I always manage to throw a mental WORLD PEACE!!!  in there somewhere.

3.  Run up and down the driveway with a suitcase so that you will travel a lot the next year. You should do this after you have finished swallowing all of your grapes.  Do not do this drunk.  I don’t want to be responsible for the loss of your life or that of your suitcase.

New Year’s resolutions to follow….
