Skincare Love

Since I turned 30 a few years ago, I started to pay more attention to my skincare routine.  I guess I was worried about getting wrinkles, or starting to look older, but honestly I’ve never felt better than I do at 34.  Comments akin to the one I’m about to make normally cause me to cringe, deeply…so I hope you’ll forgive me:

I’ve perfected my skincare routine over the last year.

Now, imagine I just said that in an excited, girly voice and gave you a high-five.  Cuz that’s exactly how I feel about this particular conquest.

skin stuff

From left to right in the order I apply them:

1.  Dermalogica face cleanser

2. Dermalogica toner

3.  Amara Organics Vitamin C Serum $19.95

4. Firming eye serum.  These vary for me.  I got this one in the makeup/lotion section of Marshalls for $8.00.

5. Le Roche-Posay moisturizer with 15 spf $24.96.

6. Awesome sun filtering oil ($16) from a spa I went to in New Mexico. In addition to making my face feel like I just rubbed it against a koala bear’s belly, it also smells amazing.

I try to exfoliate once a week (usually, Dermalogica skin prep scrub) but I often forget.  Also, the Dermalogica travel kit is affordable ($25.99), includes all of the Dermalogica products I mentioned above, and the bomb if you travel a lot.

When I’m super lazy, I use Yes to Cucumbers facial wipes to clean my face at night.  They remind me of when I was a kid and my mom had an aloe vera plant that I secretly liked to break the leaves off of and wipe all over myself, while pretending that I’d been in a horrible accident that required aloe vera’s healing properties.  Otherwise, at night I go back to the Dermalogica cleanser and apply a nighttime moisturizer, typically the inexpensive Pond’s kind you get in the travel section of your local Target or Wal-Mart.

Closeup of my face to come… NEVER.
